 The 6 Healing Sounds Changed My Sleep—and My Life

 

Hello sunshine ,

To every tired, overworked mama out there: I see you. I feel you. I was you.

 I know what it’s like to lie in bed at night, feeling wired but wiped out… exhausted but unable to sleep. Your mind is swirling with a million to-dos, your body’s tired, and somehow, you’re already thinking about tomorrow. That was my life.

And I remember this one week—vividly. The sleep I was getting wasn’t restful. My head hit the pillow, but I’d wake up feeling like I hadn’t slept at all. I was dragging myself through the day, squeezing in sips of cinnamon-topped flat whites (my little treat!) between school runs, client sessions, and the never-ending pile of “everything.”

But here’s what I realized:

I wasn’t breathing properly. And my nervous system? Stuck in overdrive.

That’s when I came back to something I learned years ago. Something simple. Ancient. And powerful.

This Was The Reset I Didn't Know I Needed

That first night back with the practice, I wasn’t expecting magic. I just needed a moment. One minute. Some space to breathe.

So I sat on the floor, ( in my favourite corner of the living room)  hands on my heart, and let out a gentle “HAAAW”—the healing sound for the heart.  I started with  three, but it felt so good & peaceful, I repeated it 6 times .( want to follow along with me in a guided video? Click here!) And you know what?

My shoulders dropped. My thoughts quieted. My body exhaled. A smile creeped back on my face. My body felt 'at home again', so I continued with all 6 Healing sounds. I felt drowsy, and  kind of dozing off as I was going through the sounds.

And that night? I slept.

Not the half-sleep I’d been getting. I mean deep, soul-replenishing sleep. And it didn’t stop there.

The next night, I did it again. And again.

And within a few days, it was clear: this five-minute reset wasn’t just helping me sleep—it was helping me feel grounded, calm, and emotionally lighter.

It’s not about doing more. It’s about giving my body what it actually needed.

The chance to UNLOAD, all that had weighed me down during the day, so I can RELOAD, in my sleep.

 

Why It Works (Without Taking Over Your Life)

Here’s the thing: the 6 Healing Sounds are part of an ancient Taoist breathwork practice. Each sound is paired with a specific organ in your body and the emotion it tends to hold onto. We want to UNLOAD, PROCESS, RELEASE these emotions.

Anxiety in the heart. Worry in the spleen. Fear in the kidneys. Anger in the liver. Grief in the lungs.

Each breath and sound helps gently clear that emotional weight—without force, without overthinking. Just intention, vibration, and your breath.

And the best part? You don’t need a quiet room or a long routine. Just one minute if you do 1 breath per sound, 5 minutes if you do them 6 times, like I advise my clients.

This is something you can do in the car before school pickup as a 1-minute reset, in the kitchen while your coffee brews, or  do the longer 5-minute version right before you crawl into bed.
